Nintendo issues warning to Switch owners about potential condensation buildup

Nintendo has issued a warning to Switch owners about the potential effects of sudden changes in temperature, particularly during the cold winter months. Although it is not a widespread hardware issue, it is something that all Switch owners should be aware of. The portability of the Switch, which allows players to take it anywhere, can also expose it to sudden changes in temperature which can cause condensation to form on or inside the console’s screen. This is unlike PlayStation and Xbox consoles which are typically left in one location after being set up.

Nintendo’s official Japanese customer service account highlighted this issue on Twitter earlier this week. The tweet, which has been pinned, advises Switch owners who notice condensation on or inside the screen of their Switch to turn it off immediately and place it in a warm room until all the water droplets have dried out. The tweet also includes a link to Nintendo’s official support site for anyone who needs help turning off their Switch.

According to internet research, there are not many reported cases of Switch owners having issues with condensation, which is supported by the replies to Nintendo’s tweet. This warning may have been sent out as a precaution during the cold winter months when temperatures drop below zero. The tweet does not specify what exactly happens if moisture enters the device and the owner fails to turn it off, but it is common knowledge that water and electricity don’t mix well. The reason for this issue affecting Switch screens and not other portable electronic devices like smartphones might be due to the lack of water resistance in the Switch, which is only advertised as “splashproof” rather than having a proper IP rating. Despite being on the market for over five years, the chances of encountering this issue are low if the device is not exposed to sudden changes in temperature. Knowing how to handle the issue can save repair costs or the need to buy a new device.

An image has surfaced showing what the Al Mazrah map in Call of Duty: Warzone 2 would look like at night.

As calls for developers Raven Software and Infinity Ward to add a nighttime mode to Call of Duty: Warzone 2’s Al Mazrah map continue to go unacknowledged, one player decided to take matters into their own hands by creating an image of what the map would look like at night. While a recent survey sent to players hints at the possibility of classic maps returning to Warzone 2, there has been no official word on adding a nighttime variant of Al Mazrah.

Released in late 2022, Call of Duty: Warzone 2 builds upon the battle royale formula of its predecessor with new features and a new DMZ mode. Despite some initial negative reception, the game has received generally positive reviews and the developers have released updates to address player complaints. However, there has been no official announcement about adding a nighttime version of the Al Mazrah map.

One creative player, Reddit user EMADALDEN221, decided to show their vision of what a nighttime version of Al Mazrah could look like and shared the image on the r/CODWarzone subreddit. The image, which shows the map lit only by the moon and the soft glow from windows, received a positive response from Warzone 2 fans, who praised the user’s concept, but many expressed doubt that such a map would ever be added to the game. Some also called for the addition of day and night cycles and dynamic weather effects in the game.
